The Energy and Water Agency has recently launched the seventh call for LIFE School Projects, aimed at fostering awareness and action around water conservation among students. This initiative encourages schools to engage in innovative projects that focus on collecting rainwater from gazebo and greenhouse roofs, installing reverse osmosis systems, rerouting excess water to existing reservoirs, implementing drip irrigation systems, and promoting water-saving campaigns both on school premises and through social media. This year, a total of 15 schools will participate, comprising 9 primary and 6 secondary institutions. The participating schools include:

Some projects include collecting rainwater from gazebo and greenhouse roofs, installing reverse osmosis systems, rerouting excess water to existing reservoirs, implementing drip irrigation systems, using flowerpots, installing self-closing taps, and incorporating LED lights. Additionally, water and energy-saving campaigns will be promoted both on school premises and through their social media channels.

Over the years, these projects have proven to be instrumental in educating students about the importance of optimising water resources in the Maltese Islands, while also promoting active participation in environmental stewardship within their communities and families.

The Energy and Water Agency looks forward to seeing the initiatives that these schools will develop as part of this year's projects, reinforcing the vital message of sustainability for future generations.
